Kotobukiya is planning to release 1/12 Christmas dress sets, which seem to be aimed for Max Factory's figma action figures.

The new upcoming dress sets are spotted in Kobobukiya's showroom store on the 2nd floor of Radio Kaikan, Akihabara.

Type-A is a set of furry coat mantle and furry dress. figma Haruhi is not included.

Seeing Haruhi wearing that makes her look like a queen or something (as if she isn't acting like one already ^^;)

Type-B is a set of Christmas cape and skirt. figma Azusa not included.

Retail price for either costume set is 2425 Yen. To be released in late November 2010. Apparently those who pre-order the costumes in mid-November will get some kind of small bonus 1/12 Christmas-themed item as well (1/12サイズのクリスマス小物), but there is no mention of what it is.

Interesting to see Kotobukiya making something to that appears to be aiming for Max Factory's figma figures to wear as costumes. Well of course the costumes can be worn by other stuff in the similar scale or size, such Kaiyodo's Revoltech action figures. No info is known regarding its availability for overseas market, and there is a possibility that this is for Japan-only, but please don't count on my words for that. :\

P.S. There are also 1/12 coats in the background behind figma Haruhi. Maybe more clothes and wearable accessories will be available from Kotobukiya in the future?

  1. I don't like how the furry bits on Haruhi's mantle, they seemed went overboard with it. Would have been better if they tone it down by trimming them thinner. It looks kinda cheap and awful with the fur jumping out all over the places.

    Azusa's cape and scape looks so much natural and realistic.

  2. Have to agree with Jacques regarding Haruhi's mantle, too overly crowded.

    And Azusa looks more HNNNNNG~!

  3. It's kind of funny to see that Kotobukiya is releasing some accessories for Max Factory's Figma series. I do remember Max Factory had a special muffler and mitten campaign earlier this year, where they give out those two accessories free for certain Figma releases. I'm not sure if there's anyone at the company looking at Kotobukiya's effort and say, "Hey, we can do this ourselves." XD

    By the way, Figma figures aren't the only ones with new clothing. Kotobukiya's own HoiHoi-san series will be getting special jacket release as well. Kotobukiya Direct's limited release though (HoiHoi-san, Combat-san, Pest X-san)

  4. @ Jacques:
    The mantle on Haruhi does look a bit over the top. It looks like it's more fitting for figures of slightly bigger scale, and here it makes Haruhi looks a bit too majestic because of its exaggerated size ^^;

    lol... Would you want to buy a couple of them for your girls? ^^;

    It is indeed funny when one company is making accessories for another company's products ^^; As you said the mufflers and mittens from figma are of winter campaign promotion of some kind. I am not sure whether these dress sets are limited to a certain period of time or Japan only etc.

    Even HoiHoi-san series are getting their own clothes ^^; This series is definitely not going to stop for some time with all sorts of accessories to be released (and imagined), just like the boss in the manga XD.
