Just like previous years, C3 in Hong Kong is a much more spacious event compared to ACGHK in the summers. I usually don't take pictures of cosplayers, but this year's cosplaying seems to have improved a lot, which is a good thing (as I tend to be quite picky on this). The organisers seems quite pleased with this year's event, and announced that they will make a return next year! Hopefully this will be an annual event like ACGHK is!

Is C3 always held around this time? Dammit, why can't more events happen in the winter???
ReplyDeleteOne thing which separates eastern fans and western ones: You give them a board to write on and not one person has drawn something phallic! I remember Tecmo-Koei did something similar over here with Dead or Alive 5. Nothing offensive was written but some comments were childish.
Also, I'd totally buy that master asia T-shirt!!
From my experience all of the past C3s are held in March. Too bad I can't think of what events are available during Winter, apart from a game expo every December.
DeleteSuch signing boards are quite uncommon in Hong Kong events.
The Master Asia t-shirt caught my attention too, and for a brief moment I thought I won't mind buying one myself too if it weren't sold out for the day. There's also a t-shirt with a stylised image of Ramba Ral (not dissimilar to that of Guerrillero Heroico) saying "This sensation... This is War!".
Thanks for the event coverage Q, for us who live overseas, blogs like yours are the only way for us to enjoy some of the contents.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you enjoy the coverage! There are blogs that do cover this event in Chinese language, but fewer in English. Always good to know that such contents do get sought and read!
DeleteSadly I was too busy to go, but judging from the coverage I've seen C3 is a much more interesting event compared to ACGHK? A lot more to see and stuff to buy. (instead of those chinese junk stalls you now get Strict G etc)
ReplyDeleteI agree the majority of the HK cosplayers look awful compared to those from surrounding asian countries. Yet the pervert uncles stick to the teenagers like flies on a turd.
IMHO C3 is more of a exhibition for Japanese companies to display ACG (animation, comic, games)-related stuff to the public, whereas ACGHK is a mix of local stalls selling stuff in general.
DeleteI don't take much notice of the cosplayers in general, but I was told that the local ones are improving recently. I won't stick so much negativity to it as we all can call each other kettle black; as long as it's enjoyable then it's all the merrier.
