During my trip in Tokyo last week, me and Arab-san came across Tony's Heroine Exhibition 2013, which was situated on the top floor of Kotobukiya building in Akihabara mainly reserved for events and exhibitions. Tony Taka (aka Tony) is an illustrator well known for his character designs, especially for the Shining game series. Kotobukiya held an exhibition of figures that sculpted from his illustrations.

Panis from Shining Ark

Sakuya: Mode Seraphim

Misty from Shining

Daisy, an original character design

Neris from Shining Hearts

Melty (and her familiar Sorbe) from Shining Hearts

Rufina from Shining Hearts

Neige

Xiao-Mei from Shining Hearts

Xecty from Shining Tears

Sakuya: Mode Crimson from Shining Blade
Despite not being familiar with Tony's artwork, or own the figures that he designed, I still find it interesting to see how the figures are scultped very close to Tony's illustrations.

That must have been so cool to see not only the artwork, but the figures. I would have loved to have seen that. If at all possible, I would have wanted him to sign a print and figure for myself.
ReplyDeleteIt's really cool to see the figures and their artworks side by side, with the 3Ds next to their 2Ds. Kotobukiya's figures may not be the best in terms of quality, but they are really well sculpted and true to their artwork!
