1/3 ★Rock Cannon

Photobucket
How can Black★Rock Shooter fight without her signature ★Rock Cannon? While it seems to be a bit of a wishful thinking at first, I did manage to acquire one in 1/3 scale, and blimey it is huge!

The label of the box. The cannon is made by Scheherazade-san of the Trueste circle.

The item was originally available in Wonder Festival Winter 2011 event (hence the "2011" printed on the label). While she stated that she won't ship overseas, after asking the dealer Scheherazade kindly on her blog whether there are any stock left, she reapplied for license so it can be sold in Hobby Round 7 event in April so I can ask for a friend to acquire it for me. For this I really want to thank Scheherazade-san, as well as Kurai, Ichigo, and their friends for making this possible to happen!

There are two papers that come with the box and the cannon itself. One is a rather official paper stating that this is a licensed piece of decorative accessory, while the other shows how the cannon is assembled together and cautionary notices on how to handle it.

Muzzle, or the end of the barrel. Rifling can be seen inside the barrel too.

Chipped patterns can be seen on the barrel itself.

Comparison with the figma version, which is approximately 1/12 scale.

★Rock Cannon with my Black★Rock Shooter doll of the same scale. As one can see the cannon is bigger than the girl!

Attempting to simulate the pose as seen on the first Black★Rock Shooter figure by Good Smile Company. As I still have no stand for the doll, it took me (and my sister) a long time to set this up. Not using a stand for such pose is highly unrecommended to anyone though @_@;

1/3 scale ★Rock Cannon sure is huge!
The big gun is like an upscaled version of that for the figma, but details are not too shabby. However posing something in such size is not going to be easy, especially with the weight which is about the same as the doll itself (~1kg?).

More photos of Black★Rock Shooter with her ★Rock Cannon coming in the near future~

  1. That is some serious fire power she now has. I am not sure how you will pose her either. Can you maybe use the figma stand to hold the gun?

    Looking forward to seeing her in future shots.

    I suppose she doesn't have to stick with action poses. There is a kind of a stand that resembles the figma stand but for 1/3 scale dolls by Obitsu which I may look into, though reviews of it seem to be a little mixed.

    I took some pictures of her with the big gun with the help from my sister last night. Hope will get to sort them out and post them up soon!

  3. This is just awesome!! You finally managed to get the Black★Rock Canon to complete the custom B★RS!!! Beside a doll stand, its time to find some nice metal chain in black color, it would be nice to have chains in photos too XD.
    Will you apply some weathering painting on it?

  4. Wow, that is huge! Imagine if there was a 1/1 scale version, then you could get someone to cosplay with it instead of a dolfie.

  5. That cannon indeed looks huge... I know you said it is 1/3 scale but is it big enough where you can club someone with it out of self-defense? ^^;

  6. @ Yui:
    Thanks Yui! At least Black★Rock Shooter looks more complete and more of "Shooter" now! XD

    I do have some trouser chains as a compromise at the moment. May have to look up some proper ones in black as well as a doll stand in the near future! Applying weathering on the cannon does sound like a good idea; I'd need to learn how to do so before venturing it!

    @ Nopy:
    I do remember seeing a video of a 1/1 scale made for one of the WonFes events by GSC. It'd be crazy carrying one of those around as it's even taller than an ordinary man!

    @ Z:
    The ★Rock Cannon is just a little over 65cm long. I wouldn't dare to smack someone with it as it's mostly made of resin, but if it were the real thing I won't dare to imagine the destruction that it would bring! ^^;
