When I was leaving from the Rainbow Gala 9 doujin event last Saturday, I noticed that there were some Gundam UC (Unicorn) stuff on display in an open area of KITEC. The biggest feature of the displays were linearts used for the first 3 episodes of the OVA. Most were for the background and scenary, especially Industrial 7 space colony and Palau asteroid.

Other stuff were on display as well:

A Unicorn Gundam statue was on display on a stage

The darker counterpart Unicorn Gundam Banshee was also there on display

Gundam UC (the game) and Gundam Extreme Vs were available on PS3 console for free play

HGUC 1/144 Gunplas that appear in Gundam UC were on display
None of the new or unreleased ones were shown though

MG 1/100 Gunplas were also on display on the other side of the glass shelf

The novels were on display as well, of which the OVA was based on

Just as I was about to leave, I saw the sign explaning that e-Max will hold a show that will air Gundam UC episodes 1-4 in one go on 22nd and 29th April, with the upcoming episode 5 to premier on 22nd May. A Unicorn Banshee phone strap is available for a special package that includes tickets for all 5 episodes, but is limited to 500 pieces only.

And finally, a huge rotating HARO was near the entrance to greet the visitors, and wave goodbye to those who were about to leave~
It's not very often we get to see such animation sketches and linearts in public! The details depicted in some places, such as the exterior of Industrial 7 colony and Full Frontal's room, were quite breathtaking as if they really exist. Gotta give the illustrators a big thumb up on this, and the organisers for displaying them to us for free!
Awesome, thanks for posting the pictures! I've really come to appreciate Gundam UC, its a great series, and the designs are really starting to grow on me!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the sketches as it shows so much detail that is missed in the movies.
ReplyDeleteThe Banshee version looks devastating and not something I want to fight with.
@ korewagundam:
ReplyDeleteGlad that you like them! I do like how Gundam UC involves new designs and old ones at the same time, drawing different things of the Unversity Century into one place!
@ bluedrakon:
These linearts show a lot of details and information, and I sometimes like them over the final coloured image.
The Banshee sure looks fierce! It's hard to imagine that it's on the same side as Unicorn right?
