Cosmo Fleet Collection Gundam Act 6

Photobucket
The Cosmo Fleet Collection Gundam Act 6 is the sixth series for Gundam warship shokugan toys. As the name suggests this is the 6th set of the line, where it focuses on ships from Gundam UC OVA, Gundam F91 movie, and Crossbone Gundam side story manga.

Photobucket
A whole set comes in 5 boxes. As the outer box is mostly for shops to display the boxes, the lid can be folded back and become a label of some sort.

Photobucket
The first one in the box is Nahel Argama and Sinanju from Gundam UC. The two are not in the same scale, or else Sinanju would have to be much smaller or vice versa.

Most of these ships are about 5-7cm long.

Photobucket
The Sinanju. It's about the size of a small coin, and it's pegged onto one of the arms of the base. It's not too well painted, and it can be explained by its small size I suppose (though I have seen miniature toys with much greater details and better paintwork before in similar sizes).

Photobucket
The Nahel Argama damaged by Sinanju. A normal version was available in Act 4 set which comes with Unicorn Gundam instead of Sinanju.

Photobucket
The stand has several joints for you to position the ship and the accompanying MS. The bottom is a peg for 360 oscillation, whereas there are two ball & socket joints for the arm connecting the ship and the stand.

Photobucket
The second one is Garencieres and Kshatriya also from Gundam UC.

Kshatriya

Garancieres. Due to its shape it is supported by a clear holder with two prongs attached to the main stand.

Moving on to Gundam F91. Here we have the space practice ship Space Ark and the eponymous Gundam F91.

Also from Gundam F91 is Zamouth-Garr and Vigna Ghina

Vigna Ghina. Personally I think this is the best looking painted MS in this box set so far.

Zamouth-Garr, flagship of the Crossbone Vanguard.

Photobucket
The last ship in the box is Mother Vanguard and Crossbone Gundam X-1

Photobucket
Crossbone Gundam X-1. Facial work looks a bit odd (almost like Shining Gundam in Super Mode ^^;)

Photobucket
Mother Vanguard. It has pretty good colouring (with gold paint on the prow, where there is a figurehead just like on some of the earlier ships between 16th and 19th century). The beam flag has to be attached on the ship by hand.

Photobucket
And finally the special item: The MA Rafflesia from Gundam F91. Each petal comes in one of the boxes, so one must have all 5 boxes in order to assemble the Rafflesia. Like

The Rafflesia has a peg just like other MS so it can be pegged onto a base. One can reenact the final battle between Rafflesia and F91 with Vigna Ghina.

The ships come fully assembled this time, whereas previous series need you to cut out the turrets and other finer parts out of runners and assemble them by hand, which can be a little hard due to their small size. However, the trade-off is that the turrets cannot be rotated for these ships while the older ones can.

Overall, like the previous series, the ships have pretty good paintwork and details for their sizes, while the accompanying MS tend not to do as well. The very first set featuring ships from Gundam 0078 was pretty good though, and I have the Magellan which comes with a Ball. The next series will be ships from Gundam 0083. Being shokugan toys, I won't be surprised if people don't know this line very well, but it's a nice collection to have for warships if you are interested, and are nice to have on a desk or something as they don't take up much space.

  1. Nahel Argama is my favorites. What is the total cost of the full set anyway?

  2. Mother Vanguard!! Was it really designed like that? I thought the front part should be wider... But that could just be due to the angles at which the ship was always drawn in the manga.

Really wish they would go back and animate the F91 stuff.

  3. I'm with LEon, the Nahel Argama is one of my all time favorite ships, and I've been tempted to get this set. The little MS that come with them look too odd to really be a selling point though, the almost shouldn't have even bothered.

Still, thanks for posting this Q! I wanted to get a good look at the ships unboxed before I made a choice!

  4. Just want to say Hi and thank you for visiting.

    Keep up the good work!

By the way, I saw your Black Rock Shooter doll from twitter. She is cute, really cute.

  5. @ Avan:
    Thank you Avan! ^^

    @ LEon:
The Nahel Argama sure is a reputable ship, having made big appearance in more than one series (like the original Argama). The total cost for a whole box set is 4400 Yen, whereas each box costs 880 Yen.

    @ gundamjehutykai:
The difference could have just been the angle (as the keel with the figurehead is usually seen more, which makes it look wider that way), and although I haven't really read the manga, the proportions for MS and ships in it don't always look consistent, and therefore may appear slightly different to the models or those in game.

We see more and more Crossbone Gundam related stuff thee days. Having them animated will be a nice thing, or in some wishful thinking also bring the F91 back as a full series :o

    @ korewagundam:
The Cosmo Fleet Collection can be a bit overlooked. While the accoompanying MS are not the greatest work, the ships themselves are not bad at all. The early sets such as those from One Year War or Gryps War are especially worth considering too. The only one I will hesitate to recommend is Act 5, which features ships from the non-UC era because the overall quality is not quite up to the rest of them IMHO.

    @ 簡:
Hey man, thanks for coming over and leaving a comment!

We have exchanged a lot of comments on the BRS franchise. Didn't expect you to see my pictures on twitter XD The BRS doll is made from a group called SQ-LAB. I wasn't that big into dolls before, but this one just couldn't escape from my very eyes... =w=

  6. The ships look nice, I think I like them more than the Gundams. I wish more mecha series would have their ships made into plastic models too, there are a few I would love to have.

  7. If I ever get this set, probably its just for the ships, the small don't really look that good :P On the other hand, the converge series is getting better and better haha. You considered buying those sets?

  8. @ Nopy:
I agree with you that ships definitely deserve more attention than they should. There aren't many models for ships, be them from Gundam or not. I know that EX Model of Bandai does have a few for Gundam ships, but they are not cheap and are hard to come by!

    @ chubbybots:
The MS are far from being the main reason one would buy the Cosmo Fleet Collection. To be honest, the 1/144 soldiers I have are painted better than them, and they are even smaller too!

The Converge series does look pretty good. I have my eyes on them for some time, though I am still not sure whether I want to head for the line or not; I have a nasty tendency to buy a lot of the grunt units! >_<

  9. I wish I knew about the existence of these ships before I bought the larger scale kits (which needs glue they say to finish). I love the ships in Gundam! White Base definitely one of my favourites and its Seed counterpart, that I don't remember the name of it atm. I guess for mass production they really can't do too much to the tiny MS ^^;

The ships in Gundam franchise do look good, and are a bit overlooked sometimes. The models themselves are hard to find and needs painting as you said, so it's nice to have these as something small to display on a desk~ The details on the MS are a bit of a pity, though they really can do better as I know and I own miniatures that have greater details with comparable sizes.
