Despite the initial mixed to negative reception on the latest Gundam series Gundam AGE, viewers often manage to find something interesting to talk about here and there. Meet the Desperado, the construction use MS that made appearance in Gundam AGE last Sunday.

The CMS-328 Desperado is a construction use mobile suit that made its debut on episode 6 of Gundam AGE. Piloted by Iwark Bria, a man from the underground society of a space colony, the Desperado was used to attack the MS of warring factions Zalam and Euba from previous inter-colony conflict that were responsible for hurting his adopted daughter, as well as his people to be exiled into underground society. Despite being only armed with a heat shovel and pickaxe, Desperado proved capable enough to take down several enemy MS before being overwhelmed by additional MS with machinegun fire and saved by the progtaonist Flit with his Gundam AGE-1.

After episode 6 was aired on Sunday, parody fanarts start to appear. For example "Hyper Desperado", with more shovels attached on the back as wings

"Variants" of Desperado. Gundam 00 designs such as Tieren and Alvaaron are present, along with Leo and Tallgeese from Gundam Wing and even Lancelot from Code Geass.

Custom model of Desperado in Super Deformed size is also spotted, as seen here from fg-site using HGUC 1/144 Ball as the main base

Desperado is confirmed to appear in upcoming game G-Generation 3D for Nintendo 3DS

So, away with Trainer GM, Worker Zaku, or Works GINN; you are nothing in front of the Desperado and its mighty heat shovel.

A few more fanarts on pixiv before closing off~

Sometimes, I am amazed with how people can react to things and come up with all these fanarts and parodies ^^; Well, at least it's something creative and positive out there rather than the usual bashing and criticisms, right?

  1. I'm totally amused with Id-Desperado (right before Tallgeese-Desperado), never thought anybody still remembers Xenogears these days T_T.

Oh thanks for the info there. I'm not familiar with Xenogears, but it still gets mentioned from time to time on the Internet.

    @ bd77:
I am expecting a lot more parodies if Gunpla is available for it, just like the Beargguy XD

    @ Tom:
    Like Internet memes sometimes people have all sorts of imaginations as for what to do with things they find interesting. I wonder how long this Desperado trend will last for ^^;

    @ G-Slayer1:
Hahaha G Gundam reference. I didn't see that coming!

  7. LOL! I didn't realize it got so much attention XD I did think that heat shovel was pretty cool, but that was the end of it. The Desperado/Guntank/tractor is pretty cool. I really like that Exia version, lol. Someone should make it! The SD version reminds me of those minions from Despicable Me.

  9. @ Lightning Sabre:
I didn't think too much of it either until I saw some people start mentioning it and posting pictures of them on a local forum. There are some rather convincing re-designs, while some are downright funny. If the SD version has eyes and a mouth then it really would like like those minions in Despicable Me as you've said! I'm sure more plamo versions of these parodies will pop up eventually~

    @ Nopy:
Desperado sure is one heck of a dark horse in terms of popularity. Hope we'll get to see more of it rather than it appearing just for that one episode only.

  10. *Sigh*...not sure what to think here. I kinda hate it, but on the other hand...at least its a Mobile Suit.

  11. How Desperado became popular is a bit strange. Its design does not really fit in as something one would normally see in Gundam franchise. With the mixed reponse from viewers on Gundam AGE there are a lot of people on the Internet trying to make fun of it in different sorts of ways, and Desperado appears to be just one of them, but it became more of an instant meme. Its popularity probably won't last long, but I'm surprised how people react to things sometimes.
