Custom 1/144 Re-GZ Custom
Looks like Hobby no Toriko has come up with a new custom gunpla after the Rebornnu Gundam. Fresh out from WIP (work in progress), his new custom work is called Re-GZ Custom Wind (リ・ガズィカスタム風).
The Re-GZ Custom uses HGUC 1/144 Re-GZ as the base model, with additional parts from ReZEL Commander Type and Zeta Gundam.
Two of the WIP photos found in the updates before the model was given a paintover job. Apart from using Re-GZ as the base model, one can see that the modifications include but not limited to ReZEL Commander's wings and sideskirts, Zeta's helmet, with the tail binder from the Back Weapon System directly attached on the Re-GZ's back. The beam rifle appears to be a hybrid from Geara Zulu's (front part), Re-GZ's (middle part), and ReZEL's (back part) rifles.
One interesting thing to note is that both Re-GZ and ReZEL are developed after the Zeta Gundam for mass-produced units, and this custom mod uses elements from all 3 units.

Another interesting work from Hobby no Toriko. Zeta Gundam and its derivatives are popular designs, and with the custom mod using some aspects of each, the end product is not surprisingly very Zeta-like. The colour scheme seems to be similar to that of Nu Gundam (white, black, with a bit of red and yellow). While it may not stand out as much as Rebornnu Gundam, it is still a solid work and retains the look that will make one feel convinced that it is a design from the Universal Century. I definitely like it.

UPDATE:
Completely forgot that the Re-GZ Custom is actually an official design, which appears in CCA-MSV (Char's Counterattack Mobile Suit Variation).

ah.. i saw this in its site before.. i thought the back pack was the original part from REGZ that use to modify into this.. i only realized the extra part was using Rezel Commander unit's later.. the beam rifle looks like the bad ass AK-47.. nice work there..
ReplyDeletesaw this before as well.I have SD GG RGZ custom also like
ReplyDeleteanyway Q I must apologize too you for toymaker part I never harsh like that till now. I just so pissed of read some blog(10 so far) and 2 person from NK cbox =.= last year(like what you feel) .I also lure from live journal,etc to gain info for so many people being pissed off like that I hate them.so I try to fix that using my own style i never feel being tricked.I saw many fanboy (mostly zaku and exia dunno why)they really pissed of and act like bandai force them to buy all variation @_@;;;;
for DC part I don't care with business part but that otacool part really pissed me off soo baddd that's why.
Rad. I've always liked the Re-GZ and its variants, but this looks awesome!

ReplyDeleteIt took me some time to look at the modded parts. Apart from the tail biinder/stabiliser from the BWS of Re-GZ and the wings of ReZEL Commander Type, I think there are other parts involved for the backpack (something there reminds me of ZZ Gundam).
The beam rifle is quite a hybrid, and the Ak-47 like part of the Geara Zulu's rifle is very distinctive and recognisable. It does turn out very nice though~
@ moemoekyun:
Don't worry too much about it. We all hold different views afterall.
I guess some people have gone a bit in the deep end of the hobby, and thought too much about things from time to time. We can give each other advices, but that's all we can pretty much do. What we do is up to us at the end I suppose. Understanding each other though is a harder thing to achieve, especially if we hold different opinions and views, but it can be done.
Didn't get interested about the Otacool stuff so I didn't dig into it. I did hear lots of bad things about the upcoming Otacool 2 though, or rather a lot of contraversies. Is it really that bad?
@ Apt-1B:
Me too! For a custom model the modded parts do blend in nicely as if it's a convincing original design in the Universal Century!
Didn't realise it was a combination of 3 kits until you mentioned it. It looks like your regular Re-Gz until you take a longer time to scrutinize at the kit before realizing there are elements from ReZel and Zeta.
ReplyDeleteThe custom paintjob looks good on it too, with the scheme reminding me of Gundam Mk2 (AEUG colors) more than Nu gundam.
@ Jacques:
ReplyDeleteSince the base model itself wasn't changed drastically it still pretty much resembles a normal Re-GZ, save for the stuff on the backpack which is one of the most significant changes made there.
Now that you mention it, the colour scheme does seem closer to Mk-II AEUG colours rather than Nu. Good observations!
