Five Years of Daybreak

I've been blogging for 5 years? That's half a decade already! :o

To the new visitors, I welcome you and thank you for stopping by.

To the returning readers, I thank you for coming back to my humble blog.

In the recent months, I tend to get occupied with all sorts of things. As a result I don't as much time to myself as I would have wanted. This together with a mild fatigue both physically and mentally did drag me down a little. That feeling when you come back home from work, wanting to do your own stuff, but ended up too tired to do so... It can be quite a frustrating feeling, but this is what I am often facing at the moment. Wish I can have more of a break for myself!

While one year is a long period of time, at the same time it didn't feel that long ago I wrote an anniversary post. I know I've been saying that blogging can take up a lot of time for me, but I still want to do it. Why? I do like sharing things out, especially sharing things that I like, and get resonance with those who share similar thoughts, or to discuss about them. As I've said last year, social media does seem like an easier and handier alternative choices to blogging, and it's not surprising that some I know have moved on to them by now. I personally still stick with blogging is that you tend to be able to put much more content in one post, and that it's easier to track back for references. There can also be more value in each post IMHO.

I do talk a bit more of my 1/144 military collections recently. Is that interesting for you, or is it too niche and/or irrelevant to the other stuff I blog about?

And hopefully I will get to put more time back into Gunpla again. Got a lot of them to build after piling more of them over the years!

I humbly thank everyone for reading my blog all this time, as well as those I have met face to face. The comments, emails, and tweets, as well as the meet-ups are truly appreciated!

  1. Happy half-decade blog-day! :D Sorry that I haven't visited in a while... It's been hectic on my end. I haven't posted much lately either. I've been wanting to post at least once a month. But oh hey, I posted twice already in July! Awesome! XD I have to thank Anime Expo for that and 2 extra days off from work after I came back to Vancouver.

It seems my anniversary is coming up too since I know it's usually pretty close to yours. I'm getting close to #300!

Definitely Twitter and other social media made it so much easier than Blogger... And then there's Tumblr for me too. There's just such ease to it, but to me it's still not true blogging. Well I hope you continue what you do best and I'll try to visit once in a while as well. :)

    1. Hey, it has been a while indeed. I know you said you have been raher hectic in the past few months, hence you don't get to do your own things as much as you would like to. Hopefully the Anime Expo trip you just had was a refreshing one!

I know a lot of us did start blogging around this time of the year, so our anniversaries are pretty close to each other~ I do think that social media do stand out differently from blogs, but it's becoming more of an alternate choice in the recent days. Hopefully we will continue to stick with blogging for a bit longer!

  2. Congrats on 5 years! I may not be qualified to say this, but I'd say you have to do something that can get rid of the tiresome feeling (like drinking coffee, working out, go for a jog, take a hot shower, anything that can put you in mood for enjoyable activities afterwards).

It's either that or switch jobs to one that doesn't make you all tired. I know, easier said than done. But if you don't change something, then it will just continue as is.

I get a similar feeling from school. My excuse is that this won't continue forever, I just have to endure it until I graduate. The same excuse doesn't work for a full-time job.

    1. Thanks for the comment and advice! I know this year has not been the most optimisitic year as the post has reflected the mood behind the writings, the source of the problem is not exactly a factor that I can easily change like job, but rather what I am bound to - home issues actually. I don't want to dwell into personal stuff online, but I hope you can understand the situation unfortunately is not as easy as one can say.

There are times where we don't necessarily change immediately for the effect, but perhaps wait out for a bit longer, like education for your case. Hopefully what we are facing is not an ongoing one, and will change when the time is right. I do thank you again for taking the time to write though.

  3. That "5 year feeling" is weird isn't it? I've never been a fan of social media platforms since I'm usually a solitary person. I've gotten into facebook as more of a necessity (and twitter after getting goaded into it while drunk) but I still stick with blogging as I just can't convey enough within the limited scope of those platforms. Tumblr is very much sharing images without context so that doesn't help me either...
I'm also lucky in that I have great hosting!!

The tiredness feeling is also annoying but the important thing is whether or not you still want to do that thing you want to do after putting it off. If yes, then it's obviously something you feel strongly about and worth doing!

    1. It's a strange feeling indeed, where it has now been 5 years yet it doesn't feel like it at the same time. I am a man of (relatively) few words compared to most others I know, so I tend to stay quiet on social media, but more like lurking as one does on forums. What you've said about not being able to convey enough information or express enough of yourself on other platforms other than blog is a valid point, or at the social media platforms don't seem like the most appropriate places at times.

The lethargy is quite off-putting, and there are many things I still want to do, though time and energy are what are lacking recently. If I do have all the time I need I definitely don't mind going through a lot of the backlogs that I've been piling all these years!

  4. Man that feel...waiting for the work day to end but way too tired to do anything once it's over...It's horrible and pretty depressing considering this is going to be life for decades. But yeah, I know that feel...

I also hit that 5 year mark last month, though I actually had no idea. I never really saw social media sites as a replacement for blogging. They do completely different things, and I'm going to continue blogging until I'm burnt out. Anyway, congrats, and keep doing what you do.

    1. The tiredness does feel annoying at the moment, but hopefully it will change later in the year.

Didn't know you have also passed the 5-year mark! Congratulations! I do think that blogs do stand out from social media platforms in terms of ways people express themselves, but it has slowly become an alternate shortcut of some sort these days. I will keep sharing what I like for the time being. Hope you will get to keep up with your blog as well!

    1. Thank you for comments all these times! Glad that you like my relatively niche tank posts. ^^

I too have bought some new stuff now and then, but haven't got around to review them. Hopefully I will get to do a few more for this year!

    1. Long time no see, thank you for your comment! I really should get around to visit your blog more often!

It feels really odd blogging for this long, yet it also feels odd that it didn't feel that long when looking back some of the posts. I hope I can keep doing this as long as I have the energy and passion to do so!
