ACGHK 2013 Part 1
The annual ACGHK convention (which stands for Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong) is back, which lasts from 26th to 30th July. Since I took quite a few photos this time, I have to split it to at least 3 parts. First off are the general stores and various display items!
As with the previous years, Microsoft has an XBOX 360 area just on the right of the entrance, with Kinect dance games, and other XBOX 360 games and demos for people to try out at the back.
Kinect dance game in action.
We are seeing more mobile phone app-related booths and stores in this year's convention. Naver's LINE has a store for people to buy the mascot merchandise, as well as an area for people to compete in LINE games for prizes.
LINE costumed characters attract a lot of the crowd's attention
Entries for original character design competition. These are scultped entries.
Entries for drawings and paintings are also available for viewing.
Action figure brand kidslogic has an open area for their display as well as a counter for pre-order
Base action figures in plain grey on display
Tenku Shenki Shurato (aka Legend of Heavenly Sphere Shurato)
Zone of Ender mecha. This is Jehuty I assumed? Correct me if I am wrong.
Ryu and Gouki (aka Akuma)
Deformed action figures of Optimus Prime from Transformers
Various kinds of Iron Man
Saint Seiya figures
Manchester United football club now has official action figures for its team players, with Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney on display
Publisher Jonesky's booth, with manhua Fung Wan on the banner.
Kadokawa's shop is overflowed with queues and crowds as usual.
Merchandise on display that were available for sale. Be it pillows, bags, clocks, or even bookmarks, the stock gets wiped out pretty quickly, especially those for Date A Live.
Life size Boa Hancock statue from One Piece
The huge Doraemon balloon is back, this time for promoting this year's movie "Doraemon: Treasure of the Shinugumi Mountain"
Apart from the official merchandise, unofficial ones are on sale in smaller stores, such as pillows, costumes and swords.
MUSE, a distributor for anime in Hong Kong and Taiwan, has its store up with many huge posters on the exterior like it did for previous years.
Animate, a large retailer for anime and manga related merchandise in Japan, makes its move to set up branch shops in Hong Kong recently. This is not to be confused with another chain retailer of the same English name but in different Japanese name though (which is 宇宙船).
1:1 scale replicas of Kirito's and Asuna's swords from Sword Art Online on display
1:1 scale replica of Nervgear from Sword Art Online on display
Artwork used for animation in Swort Art Online anime
Script for Sword Art Online anime, as well as bonus sketches, are also on display
Light novels of Sword Art Online and Accel World in Chinese, Korean, and English localised formats
Stuff from GSC and Max Factory are also on display in the Animate store
Figma and Nendoroid on display. Some are event and web order limited items, such as Yukata Miku and Maiko Madoka, that are also available for sale there
Stacks of event limited items on sale. Apparently Nendoroid Snow Miku Ichigo Kimono version was also available for sale in the earliest hours of the event, but not surprisingly that got wiped out pretty quickly.
Mikasa and Eren banners from Attack on Titan just outside the Animate store.
Enterprise shows off 1:6 scale NBA basketball players. The figures and even the basketball hoop were available for purchase in the event.
Enterprise Masked Rider 1
Gundam phone cases
Hot Toys is going very heavily on Iron Man lately, but then a lot of figure brands are doing so as well.
Iron Man holographic display. Merely for display only but it's pretty cool admittedly.
An event limited injured Tony Stark figure on display.
Batman and the Bat
Full parts display of the Iron Man suit
Kotobukiya store
Event limited Danboard gold plated edition with weapons. Very bling for a cardboard box figure~
Superman figure (Man of Steel version)
Grungust Type-3, another event limited item
D-Style Choryujin, also an event limited item
Cupoche Dark Magician Girl and Kirino
Misty from Shining Blade
Part 2 will focus mostly on Bandai stuff!

Wow this is very happening. Is this event by tickets?
ReplyDeleteYes the tickets were sold for 30HKD each, which were available in convenience stores as well!
DeleteI really enjoy these type of posts as it is nice to see what is coming out on your side of the globe. We don't always have that here at our conventions.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad that you enjoy the posts. I was told that conventions in the States are somewhat different to those in Hong Kong. I hope to attend at least one myself to experience it sometime in the future!
