2012 C3 in Hong Kong Coverage Part 1
Went to C3 in Hong Kong 2012 on the 2nd day, which was on a Saturday. This will be the first half of the coverage. Second half will come later this week.
Saint Seiya will have a new series this year called Saint Seiya Omega, which will start this April.
New chibi Saint Seiya chokugin figures are also announced for late June this year.
A 1:1 scale Pegasus. Gotta say that his armpit looks a bit funny ^^;
Medicom RAH action figures on display.
Other Medicom toys on display.
Kaiyodo Revoltech toys on display.
VOLKS figures on display
Max Factory figures on display.
Good Smile Company figures on display.
ALTER figures on display.
More ALTER figures on display.
Groups of people taking pictures of the figures has shown in previous pictures.
Tiny table, stools, and Chinese food, which look like they're about the size for action figures like figmas and Revoltechs!
Latest issue of Hobby Japan magazine comes with a custom kit that one can build a 1/144 Grand Slam sword for 1/144 Strike Gundam (HG or RG), as well as joints that can improve articulations on Gundam SEED HG 1/144 line of Gunplas.
Queen's Blade and Samurai Girls figures on display.
Poster and character design illustrations for Space Battleship Yamato 2199
Mechanical designs for Yamato and other finer details.
New Doraemon movie announced along with
Shangri-La character design illustrations
New Hunter x Hunter anime character design illustrations
Gundam Front Tokyo, a new project with the 1:1 scale Gundam to return in Odaiba for a limited period of time. The images shown are concept arts as for what will be displayed there along with the big Gundam itself.
Several anime series are being played in Sunrise's booth. Here I think the one I've taken is Daily Lives of High School Boys.
A small scene of Berserk Golden Age arc 1 movie being played. The battle features a lot of characters modelled in 3D but blends in as 2D pretty well.
Cospa items that are available for purchase
Culture Japan t-shirt is also available. Unlike last year, Danny Choo isn't here in the event.
Gundam-related apparels.
I personally don't take pictures of cosplays, but I sometimes like taking pictures of people taking pictures of the cosplayers. It's an interesting point of view as an "outsider" I'd say.
Kadokawa booth. Like last year there are a lot of books and magazines for people to look at.
A few examples of what books are available. These include Newtype Ace, Young Ace, and Another.
The back of Kadokawa booth is the shop area. There is always a very long queue for it, be it C3 or ACGHK event.
Hagure Yuusha no Estetica and Samurai Girls books for people to read
Gundam-related phone cases, wallets, and card holders for sale.
A lot of Okawara Kunio's art are on display. Famous for the Gundam mechanical designs, Okawara is also well known for other robot designs, such as VOTOMS and Xabungle.
PS3 games such as Pirates Musou (One Piece), Gundam Extreme Vs, and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations are available for people to try.
Bushiroad's booth has a fair number of tables for people to play the eponymous card game as well as for people to learn.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica pullover on sale. Can't remember the price, but it's not cheap.
Before I left, there was a cosplay competition going on, with each team consists of two cosplayers, usually having to perform a duel together, but non-duel choreography were also performed as well. The competition also has Furukawa Airi from SKE48 as guest appearance.
That ends part 1 for the C3 in Hong Kong 2012 coverage. Second half featuring mostly Bandai stuff later this week!

You guys have some of the coolest cons in the world (next to Japan). So want to get a passport and move there now just for all these events.
ReplyDeleteHaha nice coverage. Looking forward to the second part! (More keen on the bandai part lol :P) Interesting cosplay competition. Usually its just one cosplayer up on stage doing their thing. First time i heard of dueling on stage.
ReplyDeleteI like that Titans flag. ^^
ReplyDelete@ bluedrakon:
ReplyDeleteThe Singaporeans often talk about how their cons (especially AFA) is amazing, so maybe theirs are even more well known than us. But I haven't been to other cons outside to know it myself ^^;
@ chubbybots:
I too am more keen on Bandai stuff, so I took more pictures at their place instead ^^;
It's an interesting idea how the cosplay competition requires a pair of cosplayers to perform to make things more interesting. So it's not just the about the costumes and acting that count, but also cooperation between the pair of cisplayers.
@ Tom:
The Titans towel really does look nice! I was a little tempted by it before I saw the price ^^;
You'd never see toys like this in the states. They've got *gasp* pointy things! Little Johnny could scratch himself! *yeesh!*
