Nendoroid Snow Miku: Snow Playtime Edition

Photobucket
Back in 2010 I got myself a nendoroid Snow Miku, which is really lovely IMHO. Last year in 2011 there is a new version called Snow Playtime Edition. Liking the overall colour scheme and the extra stuff included, I couldn't resist and got this one as well. ^^;

Nendoroid Snow Miku: Snow Playtime Edition is the second Snow Miku nendoroid first released in 62nd Sapporo Winter Festival in Sapporo, and later as web order in the summer of the same year. It features more accessories and joints than the original.

The contents in the box minus the ice tray (which will be mentioned below). There are two additional faces, one fringe piece for Hachune face, a pair of mitten hands, one hand for holding items (specifically the ice leaks), a stand, and a Hachune snowman.

In terms of poseability, the elbows and knees can bend, and they can rotate around a ball joint at the shoulders and at the pelvis as well. The waist can also turn though not very much.

Snow Miku with a blushing face. A scarf and mittens are put on as well.

Snow Miku blushing and making a snowman at the same time. *This is cute!* >_< Photobucket
And the last face is a Hachune face.

Hachune Snow Miku and Hachune snowman posing together. The snowman has a small hole on one side that one can put an ice leek on it like a stick.

Unlike the usual one-piece stands, this Snow Miku comes with a relatively new kind of stand featuring a base with multiple holes and an arm with 3 points of swing joints for extra poseability. Some of the newer nendoroids use this as well I think.

I personally don't use the stand at all as just like the first one, Snow Miku can stand on her own thanks to her long twin tails. ^^

The earmuffs can be swapped for normal headsets.

One extra item not included in the pictures above is the silicone ice tray.

Original Snow Miku and Snow Playtime Edition side by side. They look pretty similar, except the latter has a lot more joints.

Overall this 2011 version of Snow Miku is pretty much the same as the first Snow Miku in 2010, but with more stuff and different faces. Apart from the limbs, the two have a lot of interchangeable parts. While there are more accessories on the 2011 one, I think the 2010 one is a little more sturdy, especially on the twin tails. Otherwise either one should be suffice, depending whether you like the extra joints or not.

With the end of the review, it's worth mentioning that a new version of nendoroid Snow Miku, called Fluffy Coat version this time, will be released in 63rd Sapporo Snow Festival. Again it will be available for web order as well, which will be released in the summer this year. Really like the surprised face on this one. I will probably get this one as well ^^;

  1. Oh my... Miku is full of HNNNNNG~! >.<

    By the looks of this, seems that she's based from the HMO base body where the elbows and knees are movable.

    And yes, her twin-tails are very handy stands. XD

  2. Snow Miku looks so cute, I love the snowman too. I thought about getting the first two snow Miku's, but they were too expensive and too much like the original Miku to convince me. The Fluffy Coat version, on the other hand, looks significantly different from the others that I'll probably end up ordering it.

  3. Glad I didn't get sucked up into the Miku craze or I would have to own this. I really like the snowman w/leek and the ice tray

  4. @ bd77:
    Snow Miku is ridiculously cute >_<

    This version of Snow Miku is indeed based on Miku HMO edition and Saber Super Moveable version. I wonder whether there will be more nendoroids with such articulations in the near future.

    Since I am not a big fan of stands, the twin tails really do help out a lot!

    @ Nopy:
    The first Snow Miku does seem a lot like a mere colour variation of the original Miku. The Fluffy Coat ver is a winner entry from a design contest. It's scary how the price for them are increasing every time though...

    It's a good thing that you're not big into Miku ^^; The snowman is a pretty simple bonus, but it turns out great to complement Hachune Snow Miku. I tried the ice tray once, but unfortunately it's not easy to see the details very well.
