What happens when your collection takes over your room...
Hong Kong is a small place, and for those who live there (myself included), the biggest concern when it comes to hobby or collection is space. It's not surprising for people to have to pack some stuff away because they can't display all of their stuff at the same time.
But somebody on ToysDaily forum has decided to unleash all of his stuff in one go after finishing his exams recently - and the end result is... Well, quite spectacular I'd say.
(Note: This is NOT my own room or collection!)
As you may see from the overview picture, ToysDaily forum member 豬潤 is a big fan of Gundam metaseries. But there is also a small number of figures here and there too.
Bed ridden with various gunpla and capsule toys...
And his desk is filled with even more gunpla ^^;
Lacus Clyne surrounded by Keroro characters and numerous SD and capsule toys
Closer shot of Lacus Clyne
MG Guncannon, MG RX-78-2 Gundam ver. 2.0, and MG Guntank
PG 1/60 Zeta Gundam
Force Impulse Gundam and Freedom Gundam (No Grade 1/60?) along with various trading figures of Gundam SEED Destiny characters
Kamen Rider can drinks
Megahouse Lacus Clyne and Gift Saber
Kotobukiya Elwing next to Perfect Grade 1/60 00 Gundam
Top to bottom: Dom and Gouf on top shelf, Char's Zaku, Gelgoog, and Z'gok on the middle shelf, and Yotsuba figures spotted on the bottom one.
A modified hybrid of MG Destiny Gundam and Strike Rouge I think.
Unfortunately, this lad probably has to pack most of his things up after showing off his collection there, or else he has to sleep on the floor that night ^^;
And that really is quite a collection there, and he has even managed to shove them all into one room! 豬潤 said he had lost count of the stuff he's got, and well given that I've lost count of my 1/144 tanks in my collection, I surely am not surprised that he lost his count too ^^;

Thats some serious Space Issues! I would have been too lazy to unbox and rebnox everything just for some pictures XD
ReplyDeletethis is crazy.. what i'm worry is the dust.. omg.. imagine he or she have to clean one by one after expose all out without a shelf.. keeping it back after displaying or displaying all out??? it same as killing me.. haha.. awesome post..
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a certain someone... Rin (koiaichaku.com). This person does have one crazy room though! Yay for Gundam! >_< I don't think I have the urge myself to spend this much on goodies... maybe in many years time I'll amass as much a portion, but that scale is over the limit for me T_T
ReplyDeleteI imagine the persons room is meant for decoration purposes only and sleeps outside in the living room ^^;;.
ReplyDeleteSpace is definitely an issue when it comes to any collection. I do give away some of my old gundams to my cousins or throw away some of them!
ReplyDeleteCommendable effort there. It would be interesting to see the in-progress of setting up all those items one-by-one and avoid toppling them accidentally all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteAny mention of how long it took to set up everything and keeping them back?
Knowing just how small some HK rooms can be, I'm not as blown away by the potential size of the collection but it's still very impressive to see it on display like that.
ReplyDeleteI wonder where he kept the boxes and stuff while he was taking the pics. I bet his parents wouldn't be happy with mountains of empty boxes outside his room!!
Also, I see saviour arms and sword impulse parts on the waist for that custom build.
@ Blowfish:
ReplyDeleteOh yes lots of us Asians have space issues - even if we have the money to buy the stuff we want we may not have the space to put them... This guy has just finished exams and probably has a lot of free time on his hands right now so he can pull out something this crazy ^^;
@ seven6398:
Dust is a lot of people's nightmare. I am now trying to put my stuff whenever I can in my shelf that I got last December, but I worry that I may still get dust on them...
@ robostrike:
I did remember you mentioning how Rin:s collection is pretty crazy, but I have not checked it out other than his purchase from his Japan trip.
This other guy does mention that the collection of gunpla and gashapons are built up over many years - same case for my 1/144 tanks and other military stuff as well. And yes yay for Gundam~ We sure need more epic Gundam collections compared to the figure ones :o
@ AS:
lol he really had to pack everything away or else he really would have to sleep outside of his bedroom for that! ^^;
@ chubbybots:
I agree with you, especially when it comes to people with smaller homes in the first place. Now and then letting go some of the collection may be inevitable, but giving away to relatives and friends isn't a bad idea too!
@ Jacques:
There is no mention of how long it took him to set up all that and/or to put all his stuff back in boxes, but setting up those small gashapons one by one can be quite an effort to do!
@ gundamjehutykai:
Small crowded rooms but with comparable size of collection to other Western collectors show how much passion people have even with bigger restriction on several factors. As for the boxes I don't actually think it would be as overwhelming because a huge portion of his collection consists of gashapons, which can sometimes be bought from shops without the capsule itself (i.e. not from gachapon machines).
Nice observations on the hybrid Gundam there! I was too tired to observe too closely on the waist... -_- zzz
That's quite a collection! I see that PG Zeta and GP01 I've always wanted ;_;
ReplyDeleteWhat do you do with your boxes? Do you throw them away?
@ Tommy:
ReplyDeleteAh yes the PGs... Say have you finished building your Wing Zero Custom yet?
I try to keep my boxes whenever possible in case I need to move home or sell stuff (which is unlikely), though I have thrown my boxes for the shokugan models away so packing them will be a mighty pain; even more so than my gunpla and my figures... orz
W-was that Miura w/ Yotsuba?
