HGUC Kämpfer
At last, the 1/144 HGUC Kämpfer gunpla I've mentioned two weeks ago is here! As promised I did finish it by the weekend, but was too busy to actually get the photoshoot done orz. Anyway, let's go to it~
The white colour scheme is inspired by the Wii game MS Sensen 0079. The Kämpfer was the unlockable MS on the last mission of story mode on the Zeon side. Since there are different colour schemes to choose (or you can customise your own), I chose white to go with the Arctic battlefield. The sivery lustre of the MS shines gorgeously with the blazing sun and the pure white snow, that I said to myself "I need to get a Kämpfer one day and paint it white", and I did ^^;
On a side note, the Kämpfer has the highest cost on the Zeon side in-game (yes more than Gelgoogs), and is even more expensive than the Gundam and the G-3! Only NT-1 Alex and Full Armour Gundam has exceeded it in terms of unit cost. o_o
Kämpfer in full arms. The two bazookas at the back do look intimidating.
This picture shows how much seam lines and nub marks I have left behind as a casual modeler -_- , but the main point here is the extra shotgun stored at the back and the thrusters.
Huge arsenal of weapons. I'm still surprised that it can carry all these things in one go (well not sure about the chain mine).
The one-shot Sturm Fausts (*cough* Panzerfaust *cough*) are stored on each side of the legs.
"Bring it on!"
"You want some of this?"
"Say your last words."
"I'll chop ya!"
"Do NOT mess with me."
This is one of my favourite poses while doing the shoots.
The bazookas have to be unmounted from the back before use, or else it could only shoot things directly above the Kämpfer (the hands could reach but the bazookas cannot be lowered when mounted).
And of course what's a Kämpfer without its famous chain mine?
Overall I'm very pleased with my white Kämpfer, or as some of you call it the "Fat Patlabor" lol. Although I am really casual towards model building, I may do some touch-ups on it next time I go back home.
And finally, a scenery to finish it off:
Depsite a very shoddy take-on with Photoshop I am quite pleased with how it turned out ^^;

Hot damn! Nice Kampfer! This is one of the Zeon units that I actually like. It looks much, much cooler than the Zaku or Gouf. The price in the game is logical lol.
ReplyDeleteVery good job on it Q! It almost looks CG in some of your pictures. And yes I love that "Do NOT mess with me" pose XD I think that chain mine is also why I wanted the Kampfer. Haven't bought one yet though.
nicely done. white looks good on any mobile suits it seems. ^^;
ReplyDeleteAw man...awesome...awesome..and how weird that you mention Sensen seems its the No.2 reason I modified my Wii (Monster Hunter is No.1) - and I really want to pick it up but I'm working on Pilots Locus for Game Cube (on the Wii!) first.
ReplyDeleteNice job on the Kampfer....simply excellent work. I love, LOVE the white.
Nice job Buddy, but now its on to your next project, right :)
the paint job came out nice
ReplyDelete@ Lightning Sabre:
ReplyDeleteThanks! Kämpfer is now one of my favourite Zeon MS after my Gouf Custom back in August. They certainly look mean and not something you would mess about with on the battlefield~
The HGUC version is recommended for cheaper price and better articulation (especially for the legs) than the MG. However you do need to paint quite a few thrusters though.
@ gordon:
Haha perhaps you're right on that ^^;;;
@ Apt-1B:
I played MS Sensen 0079 on my friend's Wii, and liked it so much that I beat the game for him for both sides' story mode ^^;. The green Guncannon's colour I made half a year ago was also inspired by the game as well~
I'm really loving the white there. The pearl white finish gives off the lustre that I want just like it appeared in the game~
Kämpfer is the only gunpla I've brought over to the UK, so there's not much I can do until I go back home in March -_-
@ Otaku Dan:
Thanks! I am certainly pleased with the end result~
That's interesting!
ReplyDelete@ dave:
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you found that interesting~ Hope you've enjoyed the photos~
Looking good!
ReplyDeleteHow long does one kit take?
@ Blowfish:
ReplyDelete1/144 HG kits usually take about 3-4 hours to build without painting or so, but it does depend on the carefulness and experience.
This one took me about 6 hours or so in total (including the spray painting before I left Hong Kong), which is a little slow, but I think it's worth it. ^^
Nice work on this one , looks great !
ReplyDeleteI still have one to do but i'm too lazy to do it ^^
Simply amazing!
ReplyDeleteJust wondering, how did you paint the parts? Did you paint them when they were still on the runners or did you cut them out first? Also, how many pieces make up the shoulder?
@ James:
ReplyDeleteThanks! lol I've often heard a lot of backlog problems with a lot of people. Perhaps you can start it off and just build it bit by bit every day or every week, then you'll get it done eventually~
@ gndynames:
Ah... I did the lazy way for the spray painting as I know I don't have so much time (i.e. painted the runners first). Not recommended for proper modellers >_<
As for the shoulders, it's composed of the inner part (the grey bit) and the outer armour with thrusters outside. The inner takes 2 parts with 2 polycaps, and the outer one takes 3-4 parts with 1 polycap depending on which shoulder as left one has horns. Hope that helps!
Great paint scheme!! ^^ It's definitely a refreshing color for Kampfer since most people would just leave their Kampfer in blue.
ReplyDeleteSomehow the bazooka looks bigger than the MG version to me. Maybe its just me, but the bazooka doesn't look so menacing for the MG version ^^;
@ Ngee Khiong:
ReplyDeleteThanks! I personally really like the new colour over the original navy blue scheme, thanks to the inspiration given from the Wii game~ ^^
In terms of proportions (from what I've checked on Dalong) the HGUC's bazookas are surely larger than the MG, which indeed makes them very menacing and mean with the Kämpfer~
Since you said you may want to have something different for your HGUC Kämpfer, maybe this is a good colour scheme for you? Looking forward to see you building it!
Oh men great the White Kämpfer, I'm actually working in one of those, it's still in construction, I really like Kämpfer but my fav I have to say that is the MSN-04 Sazabi
ReplyDeleteAs I said before GREAT WORK!!!
@ David Villalta:
ReplyDeleteHeya, it's nice to know that you're building a Kämpfer too! T'is a very nice design~
Sazabi is not surprisngly many people's favourite, especially it is Char's last ride. Besides Kämpfer does share some similarities with it in terms of appearance!
