ACGHK 2008 Part 2

Photobucket

Following up from the ACGHK 2008 post, the second part of the coverage will feature Gundam models displayed for the Dengeki King of Gundam Modelers Tournament. Ngee Khiong and Marvin also have great pictures of the gunpla work from Hong Kong blogger 九龍宋公明. Be sure to check theirs out too!

A big Thank You to Danny Choo for linking this to his news items.

This is one of the most impressive armour-purging Virtue/Nadleeh I've seen in this exhibition, and it's in 1/144 scale!

This scene reminds me of the Musou series. "Tieren" literally translates into "Iron Man", hence the title of this work

And last but not least:
Photobucket
Definitely one of the most impressive work out there; a group work submitted by 小TomTom (Little TomTom).

A lot of impressive work this year I have to say. Took me nearly an hour just to move through the crowd and take these pictures, but it's worth it. I wonder whether this year's Gundam Expo will have something as impressive as this, but we shall see when the time comes.

  2. Wow - some of these are crazy awesome!
I wonder what they use to actually paint them... specific gundam paints?
    Aereographers?

  5. Truly amazing... I lol'ed at the Gundam Hammer Volleyball. I wonder what happens if you get hit by the hammer if someone does a spike?

  6. Thanks for all the photos (really hard work there ^^) and the link. I definitely miss quite a lot from the one posted on Toysdaily.

Like you said, there are indeed many beautiful work being displayed there. In fact, each of them is unique in its own way. I bet even the designer from Bandai didn't realize that the Gunpla can be modified in such a way. ^^

  7. @ gi:

Indeed! This is what makes fictional Gundam models stand out from ordinary military models - creativity.

    @ america jin:

I don't know much about paints, but I think they usually use air spray followed by various weathering methods and/or other coatings to their models on top of it.

    @ marvin:

Thanks~ Will link back to you as well!

    @ Lsio:

As far as I know, Yaya's 4-legged Tieren is the winner, followed very closely by Little Tomtom's miniature room. A big well done to those guys!

    @ フェイダムさん :

Player out! Not to worry; there are always more backups from the cheerleading party. The blue Acguy there seems suffice to be the next cannonfodder to the Gundam Hammer~

    @ NK:

I have to thank you for finding the authors' blogs too!

According to Little Tomtom's blog, Katsumi Kawaguchi was there as well on the final day of the convention for evaluating the entries. I'm sure he's fully impressed with how far people can go with their creative thoughts and passion!

  9. I really like the concept work of the Gour riding the hugh weapon system. But it sad he over done the scratch all over Zaku and gouf.

  10. @ apt-1b:

Hahaha yea it truly is a magnificent work. Hope you have checked out Yaya's blogs for more visual details!

    @ starboykb:

    I agree there are a lot of wear and rough surfaces made over the weapon, which makes it look as if the armour is made out of rock and plaster rather than metal alloys... ^^;;

  11. ...please where can I buy a unicorn?

    ReplyDelete
  12. @ Anonymous:
Why would someone ask a question on a blog post that's not highly relevant and is over a year old? Besides what Unicorn is it that you are looking for (given that you are not a spammer because I got a few recently)? The MG or HGUC model? The novel? Anyway as for models online shops such as Hobby Search and HLJ would probably be the best answer for you.
