Following up from the ACGHK 2008 post, the second part of the coverage will feature Gundam models displayed for the Dengeki King of Gundam Modelers Tournament. Ngee Khiong and Marvin also have great pictures of the gunpla work from Hong Kong blogger 九龍宋公明. Be sure to check theirs out too!
A big Thank You to Danny Choo for linking this to his news items.
《四腳陸戰兵器》 (4-legged Ground Warfare Weapon)
Gyan now has a new steed~
1/100 MG Nu Gundam and Sazabi
A dark purple Gundam Astraea
A badly damaged Gundam Ground Type
A Tieren vs an Overflag
Dynames Gundam with extra customised missile parts
A customised model of a Virtue/Nadleeh hybrid
There are quite a few numbers of armour-purging Virtue/Nadleeh models this year.
An interesting hybrid between Strike Noir and Calamity Gundam
A bitter ending to a desert duel between a Zaku and a GM Ground Type
GM Ground Type Bruce Lee Custom?!
This is one of the most impressive armour-purging Virtue/Nadleeh I've seen in this exhibition, and it's in 1/144 scale!
A nicely customised Epyon Gundam
Position secured!
SD Gundam and Zakus playing volleyball (or rather a Gundam Hammer)!
A replica scene of the Gundam Capture Operation in Gundam 00
Don't let the Gogg to do the goalkeeping next time guys
雪地型鐵人 (Tieren Snow Type) by 小TomTom (Little TomTom)
The Bucue does suit quite well as a dog statue!
This customised Flag now looks like a mech from Patlabor series
A Gundam Musume (Gundam Girl), who seems to resemble Lacus Clyne. Perhaps Ngee Khiong will have an interest towards her as his next blog header? : P
1/60 PG Sky Grasper Cagalli version
Two Zakus defending in some ancient grounds
The well known scene between Strike and Aegis in Gundam Seed
Another customised Tieren
This scene reminds me of the Musou series. "Tieren" literally translates into "Iron Man", hence the title of this work
Haruhi Gundam! This drew a lot of attention as a lot of people want a piece of her~
This amazing diorama set is made by Yaya, featuring a "4-legged Railgun Tieren", a red "GN Tieren Test Type", and the "China New Resource Resarch Centre"
1/35 Hard Graph Hover Truck
And last but not least:
Definitely one of the most impressive work out there; a group work submitted by 小TomTom (Little TomTom).
A lot of impressive work this year I have to say. Took me nearly an hour just to move through the crowd and take these pictures, but it's worth it. I wonder whether this year's Gundam Expo will have something as impressive as this, but we shall see when the time comes.
Nice pics! Serious gundam modelers can really produce such inspiring works.
ReplyDeleteWow - some of these are crazy awesome!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what they use to actually paint them... specific gundam paints?
Aereographers?
Impressive coverage! must link. ^^
ReplyDeletevery nice pictures.
ReplyDeletesince say tournament, which one is the winner?
Truly amazing... I lol'ed at the Gundam Hammer Volleyball. I wonder what happens if you get hit by the hammer if someone does a spike?
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the photos (really hard work there ^^) and the link. I definitely miss quite a lot from the one posted on Toysdaily.
ReplyDeleteLike you said, there are indeed many beautiful work being displayed there. In fact, each of them is unique in its own way. I bet even the designer from Bandai didn't realize that the Gunpla can be modified in such a way. ^^
@ gi:
ReplyDeleteIndeed! This is what makes fictional Gundam models stand out from ordinary military models - creativity.
@ america jin:
I don't know much about paints, but I think they usually use air spray followed by various weathering methods and/or other coatings to their models on top of it.
@ marvin:
Thanks~ Will link back to you as well!
@ Lsio:
As far as I know, Yaya's 4-legged Tieren is the winner, followed very closely by Little Tomtom's miniature room. A big well done to those guys!
@ フェイダムさん :
Player out! Not to worry; there are always more backups from the cheerleading party. The blue Acguy there seems suffice to be the next cannonfodder to the Gundam Hammer~
@ NK:
I have to thank you for finding the authors' blogs too!
According to Little Tomtom's blog, Katsumi Kawaguchi was there as well on the final day of the convention for evaluating the entries. I'm sure he's fully impressed with how far people can go with their creative thoughts and passion!
I still can't get over that diorama. Unbelievable..
ReplyDeleteI really like the concept work of the Gour riding the hugh weapon system. But it sad he over done the scratch all over Zaku and gouf.
ReplyDelete@ apt-1b:
ReplyDeleteHahaha yea it truly is a magnificent work. Hope you have checked out Yaya's blogs for more visual details!
@ starboykb:
I agree there are a lot of wear and rough surfaces made over the weapon, which makes it look as if the armour is made out of rock and plaster rather than metal alloys... ^^;;
...please where can I buy a unicorn?
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteWhy would someone ask a question on a blog post that's not highly relevant and is over a year old? Besides what Unicorn is it that you are looking for (given that you are not a spammer because I got a few recently)? The MG or HGUC model? The novel? Anyway as for models online shops such as Hobby Search and HLJ would probably be the best answer for you.
